Ferrari 575 Superamerica
“One of 500 produced for
the World” ONLY 400 miles $339,500 |
This Superamerica is another fine example of privately owned limited
exotics! Special ordered in traditional collector colors with Rosso
Corsa Red exterior complimented with the optional Daytona style seats
wrapped in Tan leather.
This Pininfarina designed 575 was limited in production by Ferrari to
500 units. Approximately 30% of the world market comes to the US,
which only leaves about 150 total units for the US. There is a lot of
history to the Maranello dating all the way back to the introduction
in 1996. Ferrari had big plans for the “last of the Maranellos”, as
the Superamerica would prove.
The exclusiveness of this last Maranello started with engine
improvements to the already powerful 575. Horsepower was increased to
540 horsepower which made the Superamerica the world’s fastest
convertible Berlinetta. Top speed was 199 MPH while producing a
monstrous 433 lbs of torque for “roll on” power delivery in any gear.
Ferrari was not to repeat the same mistake as the 550 Barchetta with
the “flimsy” convertible top. This is the first production car to
adopt an innovative rotating roof movement in combination with
electrochromic technology. The glass is able to change its color at
the will of the driver by simply turning a button that manages 5 tint
levels from light to dark.
The Fioravanti patented roof concept allows the roof to “drop” in 10
seconds. Unlike traditional soft top roofs, the solid carbon fibre
structure with the roof panel rotate toward the rear of the car
leaving the rear window to act as a wind buffer. This innovated roof
design allowed “stowage” of the roof panel on the 575 itself, while
not taking up any additional trunk space to house the roof.
This Superamerica is optioned with Red calipers and Scuderia shields
to round out the sleek lines of this beauty. The cabin was ordered
with the carbon fibre trim, Daytona seats, rear leather upholstery and
the upgraded hi power HIFI with 6 disc changer.
