COMPLETE DESCRIPTION:
Gleaming Black with tan, well-documented, fully serviced car with 12,751 original miles. Always stored indoors in pampered, multi-car ownership. In all regards, an outstanding, highly preserved collectible Ferrari that is ready to be enjoyed.
Car received full belt and maintenance service at Ferrari of Atlanta in July 2014 at a cost of $10,712. This included the owner’s request for new fuel lines, coolant lines (Scuderia Rampante), plus the resealing of any leaking components. (Shift shaft, seal, sump pan, etc.). Additionally, brake service, fluid service, air conditioning service was performed.
Also during this service, many aluminum parts were pulled and sent for professional ‘satin polishing’ to complement the servicing. Cooling radiator was also pulled, serviced, cleaned and reinstalled to ensure trouble free re-commissioning. During this work, front fans, pan area, grills, lights, wheelwells were removed and detailed. Front trunk was detailed during this time, including removal and washing of heater cores, fresh air hoses. This usually overlooked area is now excellent and fully operable.
The exterior of this car is outstanding as you can tell in the photos. The black is deep, rich, and glimmers in the light. There are no discernible door dings, and only the very slightest of rash ‘pips’ low on the front valence. The nose was painted and blended 8 years ago and still looks excellent. (3” area of fiberglass on right front bumper repaired.) The front spoiler is in excellent shape, as is the rear exhaust diffuser. Even the paint inside the door jambs and under the doors shine like new.
All wheel paint is original and excellent. Wheels were pulled, cleaned and touched up if needed prior to installing new Bridgestones last summer. (<2,000 miles.) The oft-cracked wheel centers are excellent. The rear wheelwells, trunk undertray, rear grill were all pulled, detailed and any missing attachments replaced. (Screws often go mysteriously missing in this area.) Additionally, the undertrunk was discretely insulated against exhaust heat with a ceramic mat cut to fit.
The interior is extremely nice, including the never-redyed seats and excellent door panels. Even the driver’s entry bolster is a “9” with only the mildest character marks at entry. The original carpet mats are in the car, and show only slight fraying at the congested area on inner wheelwell/footrest. New Llloyd mats in correct ‘tan’ sit atop the carpeting. The dashtop is excellent, as is the lower console, dash face, and center console. All switch gear operates as normal, including completely quick power windows. (A rarity!) Headliner and rear compartment is also excellent. Targa roof was removed, all ‘dead’ rubber cleaned, treated, resealed and properly adjusted for a leak and squeak-free ride.
The car is equipped with ice cold air conditioning, fully operable power windows, power mirrors, and the driver/passenger heating and air distribution controls. Further, this car was outfitted with the wild Blaupunkt ‘Berlin’ stalk-mounted equalizer when new, a wonderfully period piece. It lights up and works as designed. The owner added a very discreet MP3 connector when needed, and upgraded the door speakers into original locations. The power antenna also works perfectly.
The car has its original owner’s manual, service manual, radio manuals, pouches, original keys and Cavallino key ring. It also comes with a rather rare ‘Gaston Andrey’ badge (Ferrari driver) as they were the selling dealer.
Rear trunk is also excellent. Original zippered mat is perfectly functional, carpet is clean, tools and jack are present (see photos). Original retaining strap and wells are excellent and dry. The jack bag has torn on the lower seam. The tool bag and hand tools appear to have not been used.
Engine compartment is obviously the recipient of full service and full detailing. One decal was wrinkled and illegible (emissions), so a new one was sourced and refitted. Any reachable dirtied cosmoline was cleaned, firewall cleaned of road film, any suspect rubbers replaced. The aluminum air intake tube (Motovanti) was added, while the OEM Ferrari piece is in a box. There are no leaks of any type known on this car. The underneath of the engine is extremely clean, as are all the wheelwells, brakes, suspension components.
Overall: This 328 starts, runs, shifts, brakes, and handles fantastically. The shifter glides cleanly and smoothly – even into 2nd – without hesitation. The car also pulls very strong and tracks straight. All the gauges work (though an occasionally lazy tachometer), as do the indicator lights, fans, and even the clock.
The 328s are known as perhaps the most reliable and drivable of the Ferrari line, rewarding the owner with timeless looks, outstanding balance, and a serviceable approachability. They are in many ways the very best of the classic and modern era collectible Ferraris.
Finding a well-preserved, documented, extremely low mileage 328 in this gorgeous color combination that is also fully serviced, is an opportunity not to be missed.
